VCAT is a part of the Victorian Justice system, sitting below the Magistrates Court in the hierarchy. VCAT resolves about 90,000 disputes per year and provides Victorians with a low-cost, accessible and independent dispute resolution service, which is deliberately informal and encourages self-representation.
VCAT ran a pilot focusing on whether online dispute resolution, or ODR, could help reduce reliance on physical facilities and improve access to justice. MODRON took part in the pilot, working with VCAT to trial our One Account solution with some real cases.
The following video gives a great overview of the pilot and how with the right combination of technology and human-centred design, ODR is shaping up to help resolve the disputes of the future.
